    Description

"A Friend in Need" matted saying is ready-to-frame. It is a standard size 8" x 10". The paper is from a 1912 book titled "Canterbury Catchwords". I attached the saying to a piece of white foam board, then matted with rust-colored mat. The paper is the authentic page from the book and is 102 years old. The mat is new and was custom-cut to fit this saying.
Book said the following on its front cover:
Canterbury Catchwords - "Man liveth not by bread alone, but principally by catchwords." Here is a collection of fifty for your library table; also suitable detached as greetings to friends. Copyright 1912 by W. A. Wilde Co., Boston and Chicago.
I purchase the damaged book at a recent church book sale. Some of the sayings, and the book covers were damaged, but I was able to save some, and will mat them and offer them here in my eBay store.
As noted in listing, this one is titled "A Friend in Need":
"A friend in need," - my neighbor said to me - "A friend indeed is what I mean to be: In time of trouble I will come to you, And in the hour of need you'll find me true." I thought a bit and took him by the hand: "My friend," said I, "you do not understand The inner meaning of that simple rhyme, A friend is what the heart need all the time." Henry van Dyke
I'll place this matted saying in a plastic sleeve and add another piece of white foam board for mailing by USPS First Class in a bubble envelope. I'll mail same day, or next day after PayPal payment is received.
