  • Condition: Good-Very Good overall antique cond: This wonderful early 20th c 'Chicago, Rock Island & Pacific Railway Co' capital stock share cert is 100% authentic, orig & dates back to Aug 23, 1916. It was purchased by William S. Hildreth of Wheeling, WV, who later became a prominent Charlottsville, VA banker. It's in very well-preserved overall antique cond, w/the punched holes from a processing clerk visible on the document. There are fourteen (14) punched holes in the capital stock certificate in all. The document is rendered on fine woven vellum paper in high def steel engraved typography in orange, black & gray inks. Perhaps most prominent on the document is the absolutely wonderfully realized rendering of an early 20th c steam locomotive w/attached coal car trailing behind w/the conductor standing just behind the locomotive between it & the coal car. The coal car has the insignia 'America' emblazoned on its side. It has 3 now relaxed vertical creases where the doc was previously folded.
