DESCRIPTION:
This wonderful early 20th century 0.00 USD
'Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company'
capital stock share certificate is 100% authentic, original and dates back to
August 23, 1916.
It was purchased by
William S. Hildreth
of Wheeling, West Virginia and later became a prominent Charlottsville, Virginia banker. It's in very well-preserved overall antique condition, with the punched holes from a processing clerk visible on the document. There are fourteen (14) punched holes in the capital stock certificate in all. The document is rendered on fine woven vellum paper in high definition steel engraved typography in orange, black and gray inks. Perhaps most prominent on the document is the absolutely wonderfully realized rendering of an early 20th century steam locomotive with attached coal car trailing behind with the conductor standing just behind the locomotive between it and the coal car. The coal car has the insignia
'Am
er
ica'
emblazoned across its sidewalls. It has a purchased value of 10 shares or at 0.00USD each, a total value of ,000.00USD. The paper certificate has two now relaxed vertical creases where the certificate was previously folded. It has several dated ink stamps as well as the signatures of the railway's Vice President and Assistant Treasurer. It is stock certificate number
'A16125.'
It was previously framed under non-glare glass in a contemporary black frame. It's estate fresh and hasn't been taken out of frame. The back dust cover remains unbroken. Terrific.
CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
