    Description

This is an antique calling card used by Countess Lolita Predosa of Spain. What makes this even more interesting are details about the Countess.
From what I gathered from old newspaper pieces, Countess Lolita married Count Herman Predosa, an "Italian nobleman", in New York in the 1890's. They had 3 children and moved to Chicago
where he later deserted her. She was unable to provide for herself and publicly asked for charity.
Years later, her oldest child eloped and was earning dollars a week as a singer. The Countess asked a court to force her daughter to pay a week to help support her and her other children. This was then granted by the court.
In later years, the Countess continued to have difficulties. What seems like a scene from a movie, her bedroom was turned into courtroom while she testified from her sickbed about a murder that
took place on another floor of her rooming house.
I was not able to find any more details about the Countess - however the last clipping  (dated 1917) states her "Nobleman" husband, along with another man, was arrested for robbing a woman of .
Maybe the Count was not so wealthy after all.
