MAKER MARKED GLASS BRIDLE ROSETTES
HA CHAPMAN
WHITE BEAR MINN
Item PB-46
We are listing the last of our old Chapman rosettes that we have had for many years, some for well over 25 years. I was not aware that we had any left until I found these on Sunday while cleaning a storage room Be sure and see them all, when they are gone there will be no more of them.
This is a beautiful pair of very old CHAPMAN WHITE BEAR LAKE MINN Rosettes. They do not have a zip code so I would think they were from pre 1950's
This shows 3 men that look like from the Colonial times beating drums and the background is GREEN Very good condition and do not show any use or damage to the glass.
Early H.A. Chapman single bridle rosette. The first Chapman mark was from 75 - 100 years ago.
Bridle rosettes have very interesting history. In ancient Egypt they were used to attract the evil eye to the adornment and spare the horse from harm. They surfaced in the U.S. around 1880 as the "Victorians" liked their adornments and felt superstitious enough to still want protection from the evil eye. The Victorian era brought forth rosettes with the colorful diecuts used then, under glass domes. Companies started using them for advertising as did presidential candidates. Production of bridle rosettes stopped in the 1950's
They are 1 5/8" across and will fit a leather strap up to 1" wide. These can also be used for a scarf slide
