Attention collectors, ropers and gamers!  This is a really useful German Silver overlaid chain mouthpiece curb bit made by renowned bit maker Greg Darnall Originals.
This is a well made bit with a 5-1/4 inch wide chain mouthpiece with
smooth, rounded edges on each link and rubber bit guards at each side to prevent pinching.  In theory, chain mouthpieces are a short-term option for very mouthy horses that need both a bit and a pacifier.  The links in the chain make the mouthpiece extremely pliable, allowing the horse to manipulate the mouthpiece with its tongue and lips.  The chain mouthpiece works wonderfully on a horse that may reject a port of snaffle.
Barrel racers find that this bit allows the rider to pull on a horse in a turn and his mouth won't get hard or dull because the chain always seems to keep a horse "fresh".  It has just the right amount of draw on the shanks. This is a great feeling bit that encourages bend in a turn.  Generally, horses maintain a nice soft mouth in a chain bit like this.
The shanks measure 6-1/2 inches long with a 2-1/4 inch purchase for a 2.88 to 1 leverage ratio and weighs 12 ounces.  This useful bit will make a great addition to your show bit collection and will look great in any show ring setting.
