    Description

New Handmade Brown Ripple Ebonite Dip Pen Holder & Two 1-Gross NOS Boxes Gilbert & Blanzy-Poure No. 171 EF Dip Pen Nibs (Set 1)
This is one of a group of handmade dip pen holders I made from ebonite. Ebonite is a brand name for a material generically known as hard rubber, and is obtained by vulcanizing natural rubber in combination with sulfur and linseed oil for prolonged periods. Its name comes from its intended use as an artificial substitute for ebony wood. This material was commonly used, (before plastics were invented), for fountain pens from the late 1800's through the 1920's.
    The
Gilbert & Blanzy-Poure No. 171 EF Dip Pen Nibs are new old stock, and are still factory sealed. Each box contains 144 nibs for a total of 288 nibs. These nibs have nice flex and work well for Spencerian script as well as for sketching, drawing and manga.
